Orphan Care Project
Hikma Charity Association Somalia (HCAS) is committed to improving the well-being, protection, and development of vulnerable children across Somalia. Through its Orphanage Care and Vulnerable Children Support Programme, Hikma seeks to ensure that children who have lost one or both parents, or who lack adequate parental care, receive essential support, protection, education, healthcare, nutrition, and opportunities for a safe and dignified childhood.
The programme recognizes that children affected by parental loss, displacement, poverty, conflict, and humanitarian emergencies face significant barriers to their physical, emotional, social, and educational development. Hikma aims to address these challenges through child-centred, family-based, and community-supported interventions.
Wherever safe and appropriate, the programme prioritizes supporting children within their families and communities. Residential care may be considered when necessary, subject to individual assessment, applicable laws, safeguarding standards, and the best interests of each child.
