Project Location: Somalia
Total Beneficiaries: 125 patients
Project Sector: Health and Medical Assistance

1. Introduction

Hikma Charity Association Somalia is committed to improving access to essential healthcare services for vulnerable communities across Somalia. As part of its humanitarian and health interventions, the Association implemented a cataract surgery project aimed at restoring sight and improving the quality of life of people suffering from cataract-related visual impairment.

Cataracts are a major cause of preventable blindness, particularly among older people and low-income communities with limited access to specialized eye care. Through this initiative, Hikma Charity Association supported 125 patients to receive cataract surgery, helping beneficiaries regain their vision, independence, and ability to participate in daily activities.

2. Project Objectives

The main objectives of the project were to:

  • Provide cataract surgery to 125 patients in need of eye care.
  • Reduce avoidable blindness and visual impairment among vulnerable communities.
  • Improve beneficiaries’ independence, dignity, and quality of life.
  • Increase access to essential ophthalmic services for people with limited financial resources.
  • Support community health and well-being through targeted medical interventions.
